Seitengewehr

I haven’t posted in awhile here as I’ve been wrapped up in work as usual.  Since gas prices are so high and the economy seems to have affected my business, not much is happening collection wise due to funds availability, though my collection does continue to grow somewhat slowly. 

I recently picked up an Eickhorn KCB bayonet as well as a US P1917 bayonet.  More than likely the KCB bayonet will be posted here with some information on this variation.

 Although not relevant to bayonets I also picked up a used and US military deactivated US M72 LAW but unfortunately it is missing the end caps, spring & sling, but think it’s a cool item to have in my collection even though it is outside of my eras of interest since it is dated 8-77 giving it virtually no historical significance.

  Also, one of the many things I plan on adding to Seitengewehr in addition to the many photos of bayonets I keep saying I am going to post, is to post some reviews..  Recently I obtained the latest version of Dennis Ottobre’s Observations on Turkish Bayonets and I must say I am very pleased with it.  There’s nothing out there period dealing solely on Turkish bayonets other than this single work and it’s well done with alot of great info, photographs & some links to bayonet websites, since it’s on CD in an easy to use weblike interface..  Otto included a photo of a Turkish bayonet in my collection, so that was a nice touch. :)  I wish a link to Seitengewehr was included since others had theirs listed but perhaps Dennis was not aware of it since I didn’t mention it.

   Well spring is officially here, so that means some range time and I can also photograph rifles and bayonets.. It’s somewhat difficult for me to get a decent photograph inside, so I am glad the weather will be warming up.  All in due time I suppose.  I had so much planned for this site and am way behind.
