Gew 88 Project Intro
While searching various military surplus websites, I come across one website in particular that was advertising Gew 88 rifles for sale very cheap, but in very poor condition with missing parts, but alas, they were all sold out. Damn, and I wanted one, so the quest began & I diligently searched til I found one. I bought mine via auction, but lucky me that this seller had more than one, so I bought both of them.

Once they arrived, I began inspecting them & swiftly began my search for information as well as parts to complete them, as these rifles are commonly missing the bolt head, extractor, ejector & the cleaning rod. (Got any? I’m buying.)
I have learned since this that my pair of Gew 88s were recently imported from the Netherlands.
While searching for Gew 88 parts, I took the risk of buying 5 Gew 88 parts guns, which in the end only gave me 5 barrelled recievers of which I now must restore to fully functional Gew 88.
Take a look at these parts guns.

So, now I have 2 nearly complete Gew 88 & 5 junky Commission Rifles, all of which I intend to fully restore to complete, functional shooters.
Well, suppose this is the introduction to my Gew 88 project, & I’ll be posting progress on the restorations as well as information about my Gew 88 rifles & also will provide alot of information on these 1888 Commission Rifles.

I haven’t updated in a while here, but since this post, I now have 5 near complete Gew 88. 2 of which are 100% complete & the other 3 are in need of bolt heads & cleaning rods.
I also picked up more parts guns, 3 of which are of no use, which leaves me with 3 more to build & eventually I shall have 8 completed German 1888 Commission Rifles.
